As He drew near and saw the city, He wept over it, saying, “If only you too had known on this day the things that lead to peace—but now they have been hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build a siege barrier around you and surround you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, and your children within you, and will not leave stone upon stone within you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

When He entered Jerusalem, the whole city was shaken, saying, “Who is this?” The crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”

Jesus entered Jerusalem and the temple, looked around at everything, and, because the hour was already late, went out to Bethany with the Twelve.
