Jesus again answered them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of the heavens was likened to a king who made a wedding feast for his son. He sent his slaves to call those invited to the wedding feast, but they were unwilling to come. Again he sent other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those invited: Behold, I have prepared my meal. My bulls and fattened animals have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.’ But they disregarded it and went away, one to his own field, another to his business. The rest seized his slaves, mistreated them, and killed them. The king became angry. He sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. Then he said to his slaves, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. So go to the outlets of the roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ Those slaves went out into the roads and gathered everyone they found, both evil and good, and the wedding feast was filled with people reclining. The king entered to see those reclining and saw there a man not clothed in a wedding garment.

“He said to him, ‘Friend, how did you enter here without a wedding garment?’ He was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind his feet and hands and cast him into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and grinding of teeth.’ For many are called, but few chosen.”
