As they ate, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and pronounced a blessing, broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

Likewise, after supper, He took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This is My blood of the covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.” They all drank from it. He said, “Truly I tell you, from now on I will certainly not drink of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
