Taken Up into Heaven

Jesus led them out as far as toward Bethany and lifted His hands and blessed them. While He blessed them, after speaking to them, He parted from them and was lifted up as they watched. A cloud took Him from their sight. The Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat at the right of God.

As they were gazing into heaven while He went, look—two men stood beside them in white garments. They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Having worshiped Him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath’s journey away. They were continually in the temple, blessing God.

When they entered, they went up to the upper room where they were staying: Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with women, Mary the mother of Jesus, and His brothers.
