Greek Psalm 105

They Made a Calf in Horeb and Worshipped the Molten Image

105:1Hallelujah.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;

His mercy is forever.

105:2Who will speak the Lord’s mighty deeds,

make all His praises heard?

105:3Blessed are those who keep judgment

and do righteousness at every time.

105:4Remember us, Lord, with the favor of Your people;

visit us with Your salvation,

105:5that we may see the goodness of Your chosen ones,

rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,

and be praised with Your inheritance.

105:6We sinned with our fathers;

we acted lawlessly and unjustly.

105:7Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders;

they did not remember the abundance of Your mercy

and provoked You while going up in the Red Sea.

105:8He saved them for His name’s sake,

to make His might known.

105:9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up;

He guided them in an abyss as in a wilderness.

105:10He saved them from the hand of those hating them

and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

105:11Water covered those afflicting them;

not one of them was left.

105:12They believed His words

and sang His praise.

105:13They hurried and forgot His works;

they did not wait for His counsel.

105:14They desired a desire in the wilderness

and tested God in a waterless place.

105:15He gave them their request

and sent fullness into their souls.

105:16They angered Moses in the camp,

and Aaron, the Lord’s holy one.

105:17The earth was opened and swallowed Dathan

and covered Abiram’s assembly.

105:18Fire was kindled in their assembly;

a flame burned up sinners.

105:19They made a calf at Horeb

and bowed down to a carved image.

105:20They exchanged their glory

for the likeness of a calf that eats grass.

105:21They forgot the God who saved them,

who did great things in Egypt,

105:22wonders in the land of Ham,

fearful things at the Red Sea.

105:23He said He would destroy them,

had not Moses His chosen one stood in the breach before Him,

to turn His anger away so He would not destroy.

105:24They treated the desirable land as nothing;

they did not believe His word.

105:25They grumbled in their dwellings;

they did not hear the Lord’s voice.

105:26He lifted His hand to them,

to cast them down in the wilderness,

105:27and to cast their offspring down among the nations,

and scatter them in the countries.

105:28They were initiated to Baal-peor

and ate sacrifices of the dead.

105:29They provoked Him with their practices,

and the falling multiplied among them.

105:30Phinehas stood and made atonement,

and the breaking ceased.

105:31It was reckoned to him as righteousness,

from generation to generation forever.

105:32They angered Him at the water of contradiction,

and Moses suffered harm because of them,

105:33for they embittered his spirit,

and he issued a command with his lips.

105:34They did not destroy the nations

of which the Lord had spoken to them,

105:35and mixed with the nations

and learned their works.

105:36They served their carved images,

and it became a stumbling block to them.

105:37They sacrificed their sons

and their daughters to demons,

105:38and shed innocent blood,

the blood of their sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to Canaan’s carved images;

the land was murdered with blood,

105:39and was defiled by their works,

and they prostituted themselves through their practices.

105:40The Lord was wrathfully angry against His people

and abhorred His inheritance.

105:41He handed them over into nations’ hands,

and those hating them became their masters.

105:42Their enemies afflicted them,

and they were humbled beneath their hands.

105:43Many times He rescued them,

but they provoked Him in their counsel

and were humbled in their lawless deeds.

105:44He saw when they were afflicted,

when He heard their petition.

105:45He remembered His covenant

and changed His purpose according to His abundant mercy,

105:46and granted them compassion

before all who had taken them captive.

105:47Save us, Lord our God,

and gather us together from the nations,

to give thanks to Your holy name

and boast in Your praise.

105:48Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from eternity to eternity.

All the people will say, May it be, may it be.
