When evening came, Jesus saw the crowd around Him and commanded His disciples to cross to the other side of the lake. Leaving the crowd, they took Him with them just as He was in the boat, and other boats were with Him. As they sailed, He fell asleep in the stern on the cushion. A great windstorm came down upon the lake, and the waves broke into the boat until it was filling and they were in danger.

They woke Him, crying, “Master, Master, we are perishing! Lord, save us! Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” He said, “Why are you cowardly, you of little faith?” He rose, rebuked the wind and the surging water, and said to the sea, “Be silent! Be muzzled!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He asked, “Where is your faith? Do you still have no faith?” Greatly afraid, they marveled and said to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the wind and the sea, and they obey Him?”
