When He entered Capernaum again after some days, it was heard that He was at home.

Immediately Jesus knew in His spirit that they were reasoning this way within themselves. He said to them, “Why are you reasoning these things in your hearts?

Which is easier: to say to the paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take your mat, and walk’?

But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralyzed man—

“I say to you, arise, take your mat, and go to your house.”

He arose, immediately took up the mat, and went out before everyone. They were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

He said to them, “The Sabbath came into being for humankind, and not humankind for the Sabbath.

So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
